The Secret Lives of the Brain

“There’s someone in my head, but it’s not me” – Pink Floyd

In his lecture at the 2012 South by Southwest (SXSW), David Eagleman goes into great detail about the inner-workings of the brain, and dives into heavy considerations of it’s relationship to our consciousness and free-will. His verbal illustrations offer valuable perspective on the complexity of what he refers to as “essentially an alien computational material” – the strange 3 pound glob of wet electro-chemical substance capable of contemplating the cosmos and our own consciousness.
